Established in 1991, Avon House was one of the first nursing homes in Worthing to specialise in dementia care. Cobham Care has owned and run Avon House for more than 15 years. In this time, it has developed into a centre of excellence, providing care and support for residents with all types and characteristics of dementia and other cognitive conditions. Including Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease and Schizophrenia.

We embrace all of the new therapies that are being developed in the treatment of dementia to provide cutting-edge nursing care. Our approach to delivering person-centred care is based on Dementia Care Mapping. Which is an established method that is recognised by the National Institute for Health & Clinical Excellence.

Avon House provides residents with specialist care in a warm family atmosphere of love and inclusiveness. This warm atmosphere gives Avon House a home feel, so residents know they’re safe and cared for.

As a residential dementia care home, we gently encourage our residents to live as independently as possible, for as long as possible. We assess each resident as they spend time with us so we can provide exactly the type of care they need.

Please call us on 01903 233257 with any questions or simply pop by, we’d be delighted to meet you.

The building & facilities

A home full of character

All 25 of our bedrooms are situated on the ground and first floor of this light and airy Edwardian house, which sits on a leafy, residential road. The house has been sympathetically adapted to retain many period characteristics whilst providing vital modern features such as a lift and wheelchair ramps. The gardens are overlooked by a lounge and dining room that provide space for residents to socialise. The property also backs onto a local park. The Home is equipped with assisted-grade facilities and well-considered, communal social spaces. Avon House is structured to enable us to develop a family atmosphere of inclusiveness and is comfortably furnished to a high standard.

Worthing & surrounding area

With its gorgeous beach and rolling West Sussex countryside, Worthing is a popular retirement destination. Worthing is a place full of surprises with the centre offering many opportunities to eat, drink, and shop. From cafes serving traditional cream teas, to micro pubs to its famous pier, there are plenty of ways to spend an afternoon here. Worthing and its environs provide many options for residents' days out and residents' families to enjoy its traditional seaside atmosphere. It is also an extremely well-connected town. By train, it is 90 minutes from London Victoria and 20 minutes from Brighton. Which makes traveling to visit your loved ones much easier.
